The xx. Released September 5, 2012. Shortcomings aside, you’ll find yourself enjoying Coexist and returning to it. It’s hard not to be disappointed given what came before, but the xx are still a special band, and time could possibly be kinder to their second LP as its place within a longer career comes into focus. For now, they’ve earned the right to make this record. Every band that creates a new world deserves a chance to return to it, to play around some more and see how much inspiration still exists. Asking for a third shot at it, on the other hand, is generally a harder sell.

Coexist is the second studio album by English indie pop group The xx, released on 5 September 2012 by Young Turks. After a break from touring for their 2009 debut album xx, the group's members began writing songs individually before recording the album during November 2011 to May 2012. Guitarist Romy Madley Croft and bassist Oliver Sim drew on personal experiences for their songwriting. The XX. Coexist ‎(CD, Album, Dig). The XX. Coexist ‎(CD, Album). Considering it's such a quiet album there's excessive distortion on the vocals in places, as if the stylus were clogged with fluff (which it isn't!) Reply Notify me Helpful.

In the years between their debut and Coexist, the xx's sound took on a life of its own, thanks in large part to Drake's hit duet with Rihanna, "Take Care," which sampled Jamie Smith's collaboration with Gil Scott Heron, We're New Here. That single embodied and popularized the xx's aesthetic to such a degree that on first listen, Coexist can sound like demos for a potential follow-up.

The xx exist in a time and space of their own making. In 2009 the south London trio s debut album, xx, quietly made at night over the course of two years, bled steadily into the public consciousness to become shorthand for newly refined ideas of teenage desire and anxiety. Articulated with a maturity beyond their years, its hallmarks were restraint and ambiguity. What has changed for The xx? Nothing, and everything. Older and wiser, surer yet still so tender, Coexist finds itself on the other side of heartbreak, when the light returns. NOTE:99% of the time playability issues are a result of turntables lacking a tone arm with adjustments for vertical tracking angle, anti-skating, and counter-weight system - not a result of the vinyl record.

Album · 2012 · 11 Songs. There's not a whisper of second album jitters on this follow-up from fearsomely singular childhood friends Jamie Smith, Oliver Sim and Romy Madley Croft. But-while opener Angel plays like an even leaner take on their signature witching hour sound-there’s discernible evolution in all those sonic spaces.

The xx - Coexist The xx's first album was the whisper heard 'round the world, a fashionably sparse disc of distilled love songs made more powerful by their stark surroundings. The London group has seen success after success since the release of their 2009 debut, their music equally suited for soundtracking cinema as it is for trendy restaurants and, of course, clubs.
