His flexing and his self-loathing were both forms of the same narcissism: In this way, he was almost proto-Drake. Brand New jumped from Triple Crown to Interscope after Deja Entendu, and no one would’ve been surprised if major-label money and expectations would’ve caused Lacey to go even deeper into his vices. But this embryonic version of Brand New’s third album was leaked by overzealous fans (and sold back to them a decade later), causing a disillusioned and emotionally violated Lacey to retreat inward again. By the time The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me was completed, he may have realized that the world didn’t revolve around him-but he was now the dark center of the universe, a howling spiritual void.
The Foggy River Boys was the name of two related American male singing quartets from southern Missouri specializing in Southern gospel, spiritual and country music in the 1940s and 1950s. The original Foggy River Boys traced their lineage to the early 1940s, when Bill and Monty Matthews, joined by brothers Jack and Matt, formed the Matthews Brothers in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. All were ordained ministers for Disciples of Christ. They had two daily live shows on KWTO-AM in Springfield, Missouri. They signed with RCA Records, and recorded secular music under the name The Foggy River Boys (after a nickname for the Cumberland River). In 1952, Hoyt Hawkins replaced Hubbard and Neal Matthews, Jr. (no relation) replaced Monty Matthews, forming the version of the Jordanaires who went on to back Elvis Presley.
Outside the Gate is the seventh album by English rock band Killing Joke. It was recorded between July and August 1987 and released the following year in June 1988. The album displayed a shift in style for the band towards a fuller synthpop sound. Tensions within the band surfaced during production in Berlin.
