Album Time Fades Away. Journey Through The Past Lyrics. Now I'm going back to Canada On a journey through the past And I won't be back 'til February comes I will stay with you if you'll stay with me Said the fiddler to the drum And we'll keep good time on a journey through the past. When the winter rains come pourin' down On that new home of mine Will I still be in your eyes and on your mind? Will I still be in your eyes and on your mind? More on Genius. 7, 1972, Journey Through the Past remains one of the odder pieces in the Neil Young puzzle. This two-disc set, the soundtrack to a largely inexplicable film of the same name, was no way to cap what was Young's brightest year as a solo artist. Young's Harvest was one of the year's biggest sellers, and the hit singles "Old Man" and "Heart of Gold" helped make Neil Young a household name in his own right. That said, Journey Through the Past features some interesting moments from Young's then-relatively short history. Recordings from concert and television appearances by Buffalo Springfield (Hollywood Palace, 1967) and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (a blistering live version of "Ohio") are among the highlights. Listen to Neil Young's 'Rock & Roll Woman'.

Unfortunately, the album instead pawns itself off as a film soundtrack, although whether the existence of any film could justify the existence of this record is questionable. To be sure, there are selections by the Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young here. The album opens with a hilarious introduction of the group on television that segues into a truncated version of, For What It’s Worth, followed by Mr. Soul, apparently from the same television show; Neil’s driving vocal and guitar work on Mr. Soul possess a vitality almost completely absent from Journey‘s other cuts. Journey Through the Past contains virtually none of those moments. It is the nadir of Neil Young’s recording activity. In This Article: Neil Young. Want more Rolling Stone?

Journey Through the Past Original recording, Soundtrack, Double LP. Neil Young Format: Vinyl. But the contents are well worth a listen. Side 1 contains some classic tunes with Buffalo Springfield and CSNY, and I consider the melding of "Find the Cost of Freedom" and "Ohio" contained here to be the definitive versions of both of those songs, and one of the best one-two punches in music history.
